Firearms Classes
For Central Colorado

As a current or future gun owner, you have a responsibility to have the skills, attitude, and knowledge to use, store, and maintain your firearm safely and effectively. PerSec USA offers a selection of short classes to help you achieve these goals - and become a better marksman!

Where to start?  Probably the best place to begin is with the NRA's Basic Pistol Class.

NRA Basic Pistol Class

This 1-day class (plus range time) starts at the beginning. You'll begin by learning about the different types of handguns, and then quickly move into loading, unloading, handing off, and recieiving a handgun. Next, you will learn how to improve your shooting skills. You will get a chance to practice these skills on the range. You'll even learn how to properly clean your gun! When you have successfully completed this class, you will have the basic skills and knowledge to be a responsible handgun owner.

This course more than meets the training requirements so you can apply for a Colorado Concealed Carry Permit. However, it is strongly suggested you take additional classes (below) before you use your carry permit (or even consider using a firearm for personal protection in the home).

NRA Personal Protection in the Home

Once you have the basic skills necessary to use a handgun, it is time to consider the implications, consequences, and additional skills necessary to use your gun for defense of yourself and family. This Personal Protection class is focused primarily on the home, but has significant bearing on a wide range of personal protection scenarios.

First and foremost, you will learn steps to avoid ever having to use a firearm for personal protection. You will also learn:

• What to do when you hear a 'bump' in the night
• How to interact with the authorities when they arrive
• How to use 911 most effectively
• How to shoot from behind cover
• the legal consequences of using a firearm for self defense
• ...and much more!
